SoundCheck Music Center opened its doors in 2006 and is a family-owned and operated by Bill and Kelly Lapham. Bill is a well-known blues and rock guitarist around Nevada County (as well as being a whiz at repairing ailing guitars and amplifiers) and Kelly, a fifth generation Nevada County resident, is a bookkeeper with a long list of local clients.

Together, Bill and Kelly have Billy - their pride and joy (to quote Stevie Ray Vaughan). Billy enjoys the kids that come in for lessons or tag along with mom or dad while picking up their musical instrument needs. Billy is starting at a very young age to be a musician in his own right and shows a lot of talent and promise.

To sum things up, SoundCheck Music Center is a product of the Lapham's love of music and each other and its sole purpose is to provide local musicians a place to find the stuff that keeps them going and to connect with the other wonderful musicians in Nevada County.
